Tesla shares moved up slightly on Friday, setting the company up for its second weekly gain in a row.
The stock was up about 0.7% before the market opened, building on its gains from earlier in the week.
There does not seem to be a specific reason for Tesla’s recent rise, but the overall market has also been strong. July inflation data has led many to expect the Federal Reserve will keep interest rates steady in September. When borrowing costs stay low, growth stocks like Tesla often look more appealing compared to bonds and other fixed-income investments.
Even with the recent gains, Tesla shares have had a tough time for most of 2026. Investors are worried about lower profits, delays in launching the robotaxi service, and high spending on artificial intelligence. As of Thursday’s close, the stock was still down a lot for the year.
